Why You Should Not Try and Game Google

I have created a new blog which will cover all sorts of topics; however, I did add a post that would have been better suited on here. It is entitled The “SEO Portsmouth” Search Results are a Load of Bollocks with a subheading of; is Someone trying to game Google for SEO Portsmouth?

Why I did it was I felt that someone may have been trying to game Google and by doing so pinch possible clients off people who had worked hard to gain top rankings for a local search term; in this case SEO Portsmouth.

In my mind they had done one of two things:

  1. Not correctly instructed 5 clients as to why Google+ is important to SEO and how to use it.
  2. They had set up the accounts themselves to gain credibility.

This company was at the top of Google maps for SEO Portsmouth even though their website was only ranked on page 2 organically. With this, they were showing a high number of stars for their services; with the 5 “clients” above each giving 5 stars. However, these same “clients” did nothing else. No linking to their websites; mo other blog posts etc and not even talking about their own company…need I say more.

Anyway; I could go on but have covered this elsewhere but I will just add that they no longer sit at the top of the Google maps…in fact, they are nowhere to be seen. So I guess the moral of this story is don’t try and game Google!

About David Edbrooke-Stainer

I am 60 and have motivational issues. Hence this site is often left for a year or two to rot. But, deep down, I am a nice person who rarely charges clients.
