Alas, what can I say? I have been doing search engine optimisation for several years. I have employed staff and walked out of a company I co-owned during this time.
I have had plenty of success and a couple of failures. Yes! But these were not real failures; penalties had already hit their websites, and I managed to get them listed again in the short time I worked on them. Once this happened, a large corporate style company with glossy flyers and business cards replaced me. Why? Because they must be better than an individual.
That kind of scenario is a failure to me; I hate not being able to see things through. However, this story has a bit of a moral; the websites were hit again due to this large company’s reliance on poor link-building techniques.

I work with you, not for you. I will give you an honest opinion; if I think what you are doing or have done is wrong, I will not beat around the bush; I will tell you.
I find that this sort of working relationship works best as you will gain some of my knowledge. If we were to part ways in the future, at least you would know when someone else is fobbing you off.
